Our Backstory

Boy Meets Girl: We met on a hot July night in Tucson, AZ. Christia had a friend named Michelle who is also a teacher. Michelle was friends with Toni (Brian's sister). Brian's friends and sister had been wanting to set Brian up with a nice girl. Together they tried to get us together but neither one of us was really looking to get into anything. Toni was awfully pushy though and may have pushed us together a bit (possibly by exaggerating the truth a bit haha). Anyway it is several years later and we couldn't be happier!

He popped the question: On Christia's birthday Brian took her on a trip to Bisbee for the weekend. Christia had thought he was proposing so many times she had nearly given up (not really). On her birthday Brian took her to a beautiful restaurant in old town Bisbee. During dinner Brian told her many wonderful things, how much he love her etc. then well nothing that was it. So it was a bust and after that Christia thought well no way is he going to propose this trip so that was that. The next day Brian suggested they visit the Women's Museum but it was closed so why not check out a local church (St. Patrick's Cathedral). Then right there in St. Patrick's Brian proposed! Brian wanted to propose in the church as God was the center of our lives and he wanted to keep it that way!

The Wedding: We looked at many venues but ultimately settled on the historic Z Mansion. We loved how there was a sense of giving back to the community built right into the venue. The venue also served the local non-for-profits and even acted as a homeless shelter during the weekdays! It was perfect. We had a small intimate affair with many of our closest friends and family. It was perfect. The best part was God's ever clear and showing presence. There were many people there that day even non-believers that told us our faith was truly special. It was inspiring! The perfect way to start our lives together. We danced the night away under the stars. It was easily the best night of our lives. It is a treasured and sacred memory.

Moving to DC-Shortly after our engagement Brian got a job with a great employer in the DC area thanks in large part to a good friend of his. We adored our life and community in Tucson but felt this was so much better for Brian's career and it seemed very evident that all signs were pointing to DC so off we went. We were embarking on the beginning of an adventure! An adventure that never seems to have ended to this day.
